HOW TO CARE FOR BED LINEN
We’ve earned the title Sleep Experts, thanks to 30 years’ expertise, exceptional craftsmanship and comprehensive testing to ensure our bed-essentials collection caters to every need. To ensure your natural, or synthetic duvets, pillows, mattress toppers and protectors stay in top condition, follow our wash and care tips. Always check each care label for individual wash instructions to keep the item in top condition.
Washing:
• Wash bed linen items separately to other items to protect the material and prevent rubbing against harsher fabrics and components (such as zips, or buttons).
• The wash temperature identified on the care label is a reference to the highest temperature the bed linen can withstand; consider washing at a lower temperature to save energy.
• Remove the bedding promptly from the washing machine to avoid any colour transfer and shake the sheets out before placing in the dryer to reduce creases.
Drying:
• When possible, line dry sheets out of direct sunlight. This will help with the level of creasing and ironing needed.
• When using a tumble dryer, choose a low-heat setting to protect fibres and prevent wrinkles.
• Be careful not to over dry sheets, as this will weaken their natural fibres and potentially cause them to deteriorate.
• If intending to iron, take sheets out while damp and iron. If ironing completely dry, dampen the fabric thoroughly before.
Keeping sheets white:
• Regularly launder white sheets to help maintain brightness and freshness.
• Ensure your washing machine is totally clean. If your washing machine has a ‘Drum clean’ or ‘Tub clean’ setting, it is a cleaning cycle designed to remove detergent residue and build up.
• Wash similar colours together to avoid any colour transfers. Avoid fabric softeners, as they can dull the finish.
• Some sheets will allow the use of non-chlorine bleach only and others no bleach at all, depending on the finishing process, type of fibre and colour. It’s usually better to avoid chlorine bleaches as these can have a chemical reaction to protein stains and turn them more yellow. Check individual care labels for guidance.
• Treat stains quickly. This will increase your chances of removing them, rather than letting them settle into the fibres.
• Do not overload your washing machine – this can prevent it from cleaning whites properly as items cannot move as freely around the drum to remove dirt.
• Use the correct dosage of detergent to prevent build up and stop white bedding from turning grey.
Our Egyptian Cotton
Super breathable, durable and luxuriously soft, cotton is simply beautiful to sleep beneath. Easy to care for and known for its durability, cotton bedding (if properly cared for) can stand the test of time.
How to wash:
Wash temperatures can vary depending on the colours and finishes. Cottons are best washed at 30°C, or 40°C. Always check each care label for individual wash instructions.Separate from other washing and, if using a small drum washing machine, wash the duvet cover and pillowcase separately from the sheet.Once out of the machine, shake the bedding into shape while still damp.
How to store:
As cotton is a natural fibre, it will tend to crease more than synthetic blends. Line dry out of direct sunlight (this helps with the creasing level), or tumble dry at a low temperature. If ironing, we recommend ironing while damp to easily remove the creases.
